Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s IT giant, has officially revealed that Aarthi Subramanian will step into the role of Executive Director – President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for a five-year term, commencing May 1, 2025. This strategic move, endorsed by the Board of Directors and recommended by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, awaits shareholder approval, according to a regulatory filing on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Subramanian, a stalwart of the Tata Group, currently serves as the Group Chief Digital Officer at Tata Sons, where she has led the digital transformation vision for several Tata enterprises. “Aarthi has extensive experience in technology and operations,” TCS stated in an official profile. “At Tata Sons, she has been instrumental in ensuring that Tata Group companies harness digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency, customer engagement, and competitive advantage.”
With over 30 years of allegiance to the Tata ecosystem, Aarthi’s journey is deeply intertwined with TCS. She previously held positions like Executive Director and Global Head of Delivery Excellence, Governance and Compliance, where she spearheaded large-scale digital transformation efforts and global compliance frameworks.
Her professional roots are grounded in managing service delivery for the Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) unit, where she was known for nurturing top-tier client relationships and driving business value. This rich legacy of leadership has earned her board positions at multiple Tata Group entities, including TCS, Tata Capital, Tata AIA Life Insurance, and Infiniti Retail.
An alumna of NIT Warangal, with a B.Tech in Computer Science, Subramanian further honed her leadership at the University of Kansas, securing a Master’s in Engineering Management. Her forward-looking vision and operational mastery are expected to bolster TCS’s agility and global delivery capabilities amid the sweeping waves of AI, automation, and digital reinvention.
In tandem with this key appointment, Mangesh Sathe has been named Chief Strategy Officer, a move that signals TCS’s continued focus on aligning its business roadmap with the shifting tides of the global tech economy.
These leadership changes underscore TCS’s long-term vision and commitment to shaping the next chapter of innovation in the Indian IT landscape.
