Nationwide Aadhaar Update Drive Aims To Protect Student Benefits And Exam Access

A nationwide campaign has been launched to address delays in biometric updates for Aadhaar cards, which could affect millions of students’ access to government benefits and exam registrations. Officials estimate that more than 17 crore Aadhaar numbers have not been updated with required biometric details, creating risks for students who rely on the system.

To resolve the issue, education departments and identity authorities have partnered to integrate student update information directly into school systems. This move is designed to make sure that every child’s Aadhaar is up to date, preventing last-minute hurdles for exams or subsidies.

Schools across states and union territories have been instructed to organise special camps to help families complete updates. Technology systems have also been strengthened to identify students with pending updates through a unified education portal. This allows schools to act quickly and prevent disruptions.

Aadhaar is vital in India as it is needed for government schemes, subsidies, and exam registrations. Updates are required at ages five and fifteen, but many families delay the process until urgent needs arise. This often results in stress and lost opportunities.

Officials say that the digitised education portal is now serving as a central tool to monitor student biometric status in real time. By linking education data with Aadhaar records, authorities hope to remove barriers that prevent children from receiving the support they are entitled to.

The campaign highlights the importance of timely updates and the role of schools in ensuring that students are not excluded from vital services. As outreach expands, the focus is on ensuring that every child remains connected to opportunities that shape their education and future.
