New Aadhaar app brings a simpler and safer digital identity experience

The redesigned Aadhaar mobile app has been launched to offer users a smoother, more secure and convenient way to manage their digital identity. The update focuses on easy navigation, stronger protection of personal information and smarter options for sharing Aadhaar details without exposing sensitive data. The refreshed layout is light, quick and clean, displaying key details such as the Aadhaar number, photo and address in an organised format. It avoids clutter, loads faster and provides a clear digital view of the Aadhaar card, even on older smartphones.

Users can download it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and set it up by entering their Aadhaar number followed by OTP verification sent to the registered mobile number. After this, the app prompts for facial recognition, fingerprint or a secure PIN depending on the device. Once the setup is complete, the Aadhaar profile stays saved on the phone so users do not need to log in every time, making the overall experience smoother and more user friendly.

Security is a major focus in this update. Users can lock their Aadhaar profile and unlock it only through biometrics or a PIN, ensuring that no one else can access or misuse their details. The activity log records when and where the Aadhaar profile was accessed, offering full transparency and better control over digital identity. The app also enables selective data sharing, allowing users to reveal only what is needed for verification. They can show just their name or a QR code instead of the full Aadhaar details and offline QR verification supports quick identity checks without sharing a physical copy.

The app also brings convenience for families by allowing up to 5 Aadhaar profiles on a single device. Parents can add profiles of children and store details of elderly family members. Once added, the information remains accessible even without internet, ensuring uninterrupted access to Aadhaar details. This makes the app a secure, paper free and reliable solution for everyday use while maintaining ease, safety and accessibility for all users.
