As he joins the Board of Management he will lead HR strategy, governance, compensation, benefits and people focused policies that support the company’s commitment to operational excellence and employee wellbeing.
In his most recent position, Satish Ranchod served as Head of Compensation and Benefits. He strengthened reward frameworks, improved governance systems and shaped benefits structures that aligned people strategy with organisational goals. His work played an important role in reinforcing the company’s standing as an employer of choice in South Africa and the wider region.
Before this, Satish worked as Head of Governance, Compensation and Benefits where he contributed to governance enhancements across the enterprise. He was involved in pension and provident fund committees, risk and insurance governance and joint union management forums. These responsibilities reflected his ability to balance financial oversight with employee centred decision making.
Earlier in his journey with the organisation he spent several years as Remuneration and Benefits Manager. He gained deep experience in HR strategy, policy development and compensation management. Satish broader background also includes roles such as Employee Benefits Specialist, Sales Forecasting Supervisor, Supervisor HR Administration and Compensation Consultant. These positions expanded his knowledge of organisational design, workforce planning and stakeholder engagement.
Satish began his career at Volkswagen as an EDP Auditor. This early exposure to financial controls, governance practices and systems thinking strengthened the foundation for his later HR leadership. Over time he also represented Volkswagen Group Africa in the Automobile Manufacturers Employer Organisation collective bargaining process. In this capacity he led financial modelling for several years, further establishing his expertise in negotiations and workforce planning.
Satish Ranchod holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Processing from Rhodes University which shaped his analytical approach to HR. He also completed the Volkswagen Group Junior Executive Programme at Ashridge Business School in London. In addition he is a Certified Internal Auditor through the Institute of Internal Auditors in the United States and an Associate Principal Executive Officer with the Council of Retirement Funds South Africa reflecting his strong governance and retirement fund expertise.
