Microchip Technology expands India presence with new Bengaluru facility

Microchip Technology, a leading global semiconductor company known for simplifying innovation through total system solutions, has expanded its footprint in India with the acquisition of a 1.72 lakh square feet (16,000 square metre) office space at the Export Promotion Industrial Park Zone in Whitefield, Bengaluru. The expansion reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening its engineering and design capabilities in one of India’s fastest-growing technology hubs.

Speaking about the development, Srikanth Settikere, Vice President and Managing Director of Microchip’s India Development Centre, said, “At Microchip, growth is about creating opportunities as much as scaling operations. With India contributing to nearly 20% of global semiconductor design talent, our new Bengaluru facility will sharpen our advanced IC design focus and strengthen our engagement in one of the country’s most dynamic technology hubs.”

The new facility will act as a strategic extension of Microchip’s Bengaluru Development Centre, with the capacity to accommodate over 3,000 employees over the next decade. It is designed to support the company’s expanding workforce, enable collaboration across global and regional teams, and offer modern infrastructure for advanced research and development.

Steve Sanghi, President and CEO of Microchip, added, “We recently celebrated Microchip’s 25th anniversary in India and this office acquisition is a testament to our commitment in India. We believe our investments in the region will enable us to both benefit from and contribute to the country’s increasingly important role in the global semiconductor industry.”

This new Bengaluru facility marks Microchip’s second office in the city, complementing its existing operations in Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and New Delhi. The expansion underscores the company’s long-term commitment to innovation, talent development, and product excellence in India.

With this move, Microchip aims to further advance its capabilities in delivering cutting-edge semiconductor solutions across key sectors including industrial, automotive, consumer, aerospace and defence, communications, and computing.
