YouTube unveils new analytics, streaming, and AI editing tools for creators

YouTube has introduced a new Traffic Breakdown feature in its Analytics section, designed to give creators a clearer view of how their content performs across organic and paid reach. The update aims to help creators better understand the impact of advertising compared to natural audience discovery.

The feature allows users to separate data for views, likes, comments, shares, and watch time based on the source of traffic. This means creators can now easily determine how much of their engagement comes from paid promotions and how much results from organic reach. Previously, all engagement metrics were grouped together, making it difficult to track the influence of advertising campaigns.

YouTube said the new tool is intended to improve transparency and help creators fine-tune their content and marketing strategies. A channel running a paid campaign can now measure the exact number of views and total watch time from those promotions and compare them with organic videos. This comparison will allow creators to see what type of content performs best with their audiences and optimise future efforts.

Currently, the Traffic Breakdown feature is being tested among a select group of users in the United States as part of YouTube’s early-access programme. The company plans to expand availability globally once testing is complete and feedback is reviewed.

Alongside the analytics update, YouTube has also launched Dual-Format Streaming, a new feature that allows creators to live-stream in both horizontal and vertical formats simultaneously. The vertical stream will appear in the Shorts feed, helping creators reach a wider audience without requiring additional setups. YouTube added that the system automatically adjusts layouts for horizontal streams, simplifying the live-streaming process.

Another major addition is Edit with AI, an artificial intelligence-based editing tool that automatically assembles clips into a first-draft version with transitions, background music, and narration. The feature aims to make video editing faster and more efficient for both new and experienced creators by reducing manual work during post-production.

Through these updates, YouTube continues to strengthen its creator ecosystem by combining advanced analytics, flexible streaming formats, and AI-driven editing support. The platform’s focus on data insights and creative efficiency highlights its commitment to helping creators grow sustainably while streamlining production workflows.
