Vanguard sets up major global technology centre in Hyderabad

American investment services company Vanguard has opened its first India global capability centre in Hyderabad. The new centre is expected to become the company’s largest technology hub in the world by 2029. It will focus on engineering, cloud modernisation, data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and cybersecurity. The centre will also include collaborative labs created to support faster innovation across Vanguard’s digital products and enterprise systems.

The facility is currently aiming to have around 300 employees by the end of 2025 and is projected to expand to over 2,300 technology professionals in the coming years. The centre is operating from temporary office spaces across approximately 165,000 square feet in locations including Sattva Knowledge Park.

Inaugurating the centre, the deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that Vanguard choosing Hyderabad reflects the city’s rise as a strong global destination for technology and innovation. He highlighted that the city’s infrastructure, supportive government policies and skilled workforce are attracting major multinational companies. He also invited Vanguard to consider establishing its own permanent campus at Future City.

IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said that seven of the world’s top asset management firms, managing a combined 30 trillion dollars in assets, are currently operating from Hyderabad. He added that the state aims to attract 120 new global capability centres within the next year, creating around 1.2 lakh new jobs. He said Hyderabad has earned a reputation for trust, stability and innovation and that Vanguard’s presence strengthens this position.

Vanguard’s global chief information officer Nitin Tandon said the hiring progress has been strong. “We are tracking ahead of our plan. We are seeing great traction in the market and are very happy with the quality of candidates we are getting. Our plan was to get to around 200 people by year-end, but we expect to end 2025 with around 300 employees here.” He added that the focus of the Hyderabad centre is talent based and not just cost based. Venkatesh Natarajan, head of Vanguard India, confirmed the details of the temporary office arrangements.
