TikTok launches new AI tools and improved revenue model to boost creator growth

TikTok has unveiled a suite of new AI-powered tools aimed at making content creation and editing simpler for its global creator community. Announced at the US Creator Summit, the platform introduced three major updates, including advanced editing features, pre-production support tools, and enhanced subscription revenue sharing to help creators grow and earn more effectively.

One of the standout additions is Smart Split, an AI editing feature that automatically converts long videos into shorter, vertical clips optimised for mobile viewing. Designed for videos longer than one minute, Smart Split is particularly useful for creators working with podcast recordings or extended camera footage. Users can select the portions they wish to convert, and the tool handles the rest — trimming clips, generating captions, and adjusting frames to fit vertical format. The feature is now available worldwide through TikTok Studio Web.

Another key innovation is AI Outline, a pre-production tool that assists creators before filming begins. It uses artificial intelligence to generate complete video outlines, including titles, hooks, hashtags, and script ideas, based on user prompts or trending topics. Creators can edit these AI-generated ideas to match their own style. The feature is currently accessible to users over 18 in the US, Canada, and select regions, with wider availability expected soon.

TikTok also announced improvements to its creator monetisation model. Currently, creators offering paid subscriptions receive 70 per cent of revenue after fees. Under the new update, eligible creators — those with at least 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the past month, and a minimum of three subscription-only posts — can now earn up to 90 per cent revenue share, giving them greater financial rewards for regular and engaging content.

These new AI tools and monetisation changes reflect TikTok’s growing focus on empowering creators with technology-driven support. By streamlining video production and offering fairer revenue models, TikTok aims to strengthen its position as the leading platform for short-form video creativity and community growth.
