Nvidia to launch DGX Spark, the world’s smallest personal AI supercomputer on October 15

American technology giant Nvidia will launch its DGX Spark, a compact personal AI supercomputer, on October 15. Designed to fit on a desktop, the device allows users to work on complex artificial intelligence models from their own workspace.

Starting Wednesday, the DGX Spark will be available for purchase online at nvidia.com and through select retail and distribution partners across the United States. Nvidia has priced the device at 3,999 dollars, which is approximately 3,55,106 rupees. Earlier reports had speculated a lower price of 3,000 dollars, around 2,66,396 rupees.

The DGX Spark is being introduced as the world’s smallest AI supercomputer, offering the power of large-scale AI systems in a compact form. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said, “Putting an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher, and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI.” Huang had first unveiled the concept, then known as Digits, earlier this year.

The DGX Spark delivers performance levels that were once possible only through expensive, high-energy data centres. It is expected to be particularly useful for researchers and developers and could help make access to AI tools more widespread and affordable.

Nvidia has also confirmed that third-party manufacturers will be free to create their own versions of the DGX Spark. As a result, similar compact AI supercomputers are expected to enter the market soon.

Several leading computer manufacturers — including Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, and MSI — are already preparing to release their own customised versions of the Spark. Acer’s Veriton GN100, for instance, is priced similarly at 3,999 dollars.

With the launch of DGX Spark, Nvidia aims to bring high-performance AI computing directly to desktops, marking a new phase in the democratisation of AI technology.
