India’s social media space is witnessing a major shift, and Snapchat is emerging at the forefront. The company revealed that the time Indian users spend on its platform has doubled in the past two years, highlighting changing habits among younger audiences.
The surge reflects a generational preference for more authentic and personal interactions, with Gen Z moving away from heavily filtered content towards real-time and ephemeral experiences.
Expanding Creator Ecosystem
Alongside rising engagement, the number of creators on Snapchat has also grown. Verified creators, known as “Snap Stars,” have increased by 50 percent over the same period. This group now includes a wide range of voices, from lifestyle influencers to comedians and social commentators, creating a richer and more diverse content environment.
Company’s Viewpoint
“India is not only one of our fastest-growing markets but also a leading contributor of content on Snapchat globally,” said Saket Jha Saurabh, director of content and AR partnerships at Snap Inc. “The results reflect our focus on building an inclusive and thriving creator ecosystem.”
He added that initiatives such as Snapchat Creator Connect are expanding opportunities for emerging voices from smaller towns, enabling more creators to participate in digital storytelling.
Youth Preferences Driving Growth
Industry analysts note that younger users increasingly value authenticity and relatability over polished entertainment. With its focus on “real-time and creative expression,” Snapchat is becoming a preferred choice for Gen Z and young millennials in India.
