Accenture is preparing to set up a new campus in Andhra Pradesh that is expected to generate around 12,000 jobs in India, according to sources cited by a common news platform. The proposed facility in Visakhapatnam will benefit from the state’s policy of offering leased land at 0.99 rupees per acre for large companies creating employment. Similar benefits have already been availed by Tata Consultancy Services and Cognizant.
India remains Accenture’s largest talent hub worldwide, with more than 300,000 employees out of its 790,000 global workforce. A senior state official confirmed support for the move, stating, “It is not an unreasonable ask by Accenture, and the proposal will go through.” The investment size for the project has not yet been revealed.
Tata Consultancy Services and Cognizant have already secured land leases under the same policy, with plans to set up campuses expected to generate nearly 20,000 jobs. Their investments are reported at about 154 million dollars and 183 million dollars respectively. The move signals a growing trend of major technology companies expanding operations to Tier 2 cities in India to take advantage of lower land, rental, and wage costs, along with access to local talent in the post-pandemic period.
