Google Preparing Quick Share Support For iPhone And MacBook Users

Google is reportedly working on expanding its Quick Share feature to iPhones and MacBooks. The file sharing tool, which is already available on Android, ChromeOS and Windows, allows users to transfer files without the need for internet access.

According to a recent leak spotted in the latest version of Google Play Services, Quick Share could soon support Apple devices. A code string discovered in the update confirms iPhone compatibility, while another suggests that users will be required to sign in with a Google account to send files.

Quick Share, co-developed by Google and Samsung, is designed to let users share photos, videos, documents and links instantly with nearby devices. On Android, the service works without apps, logins or internet, making it a popular alternative to third-party file transfer options.

The lack of Quick Share support on iPhones has long been a hurdle for cross-platform users, who often rely on email or messaging apps like WhatsApp to send small files between devices. While some brands like Oppo and OnePlus have offered limited solutions through apps such as Oconnect+, these are restricted to their own devices and unavailable to others.

If Quick Share arrives on iOS, it could offer a simple and seamless way for Android and iPhone users to share files directly. However, the requirement for a Google account might be tied to security and access permissions for the iOS app.

The timing of this development is notable, as it comes just ahead of the expected launch of Apple’s iPhone 17 series and iOS 26 update in September. While there is no confirmation yet on whether Quick Share support will be part of the upcoming iOS release, the new signs indicate that the feature could soon bridge the gap between Android and Apple ecosystems.

For now, Android users will have to wait until Google officially confirms and rolls out Quick Share for iOS. If successful, the move could finally provide a universal solution for fast and secure file transfers across platforms.
