Google launches AI-powered virtual try-on for clothing in US

Google is the source of the latest futuristic enhancement to online shopping. In an effort to make finding clothes, keeping track of costs, and finding discounts easier (and smarter) than ever before, the internet giant is introducing a new wave of AI-powered capabilities to its US shopping platform. Its app Doppl, an AI-powered virtual changing room that lets users try on clothes using a digital version of themselves, was only released a month prior. Although Google has previously dabbled with virtual try-ons, this is the company’s most customized and individualized attempt to date.

The main component of the most recent upgrade is an enhanced virtual try-on function for clothes that allows you to use a full-body image to view how specific outfits might seem on you. This AI-powered tool, which was first made available to Search Labs users only in May, is now becoming more generally accessible and has the potential to revolutionize the fashion industry for those who are hesitant to make impulsive purchases.

“To get started, tap on any product listing across Google or any apparel product result on Google Images and tap the ‘try it on’ icon,” Google explained. “Upload a full-length photo of yourself and within moments you’ll see what you might look like wearing those gingham-print pants on the first day of class.”

To put it another way, internet shopping may soon feel much more like entering a dressing room without getting out of your couch. You may browse through the many styles you’ve tried on, save your favorites, or even share them with others to hear their opinion before making a purchase. The technology creates a visual representation of how the item fits your particular body form.

This might represent a significant advancement in closing the gap between online and in-store shopping if the previews turn out to be accurate over time.

Google is updating its price-tracking tools in addition to the virtual facelift, allowing customers greater discretion over how and when they receive offer notifications.

“Starting to roll out today, when US shoppers hit ‘track price’ to set an alert for a product, you can specify your preferred size and colour, as well as the price you want to pay,” the company said. “The Shopping Graph has products and prices from all across the web, so we’ll let you know when there’s an offer that meets your criteria.”

This implies that you won’t have to keep switching tabs or checking applications for the ideal price reduction; instead, Google will gently remind you when your ideal product reaches your ideal price range.

Google is improving its AI-powered text-based search capabilities in yet another update, enabling users to find products using conversational queries. Regardless of whether you type “flowy summer dress under $50” or “chunky knit jumper for winter,” Google’s updated system will work in the background to more precisely match your words with relevant products.

These tools will probably be especially helpful to US customers as they search for both styles and deals, given they arrive right before the hectic sales season.

Although broader international expansion is anticipated in the future, these AI-powered features are currently only available to users in the United States. Therefore, this preview of online retail’s future is a clear indication of the direction e-commerce is taking, even though customers throughout the world will have to wait a little longer to play dress-up with AI.
