TCS Launches AI Innovation Centre in Singapore

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services provider, has unveiled a new high-powered innovation centre in Singapore, poised to drive artificial intelligence (AI) transformation for up to 60 local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. This initiative underscores TCS’s commitment to fostering digital growth and bridging technology gaps within Singapore’s vibrant business ecosystem.

Located within TCS Asia Pacific’s office at Changi Business Park, the new facility will serve as a collaborative hub. Over the next 12 months, it aims to engage up to 50 SMEs and 10 startups, allowing them to work directly with TCS experts to co-develop, prototype, and scale AI solutions tailored for real-world business challenges. This hands-on approach is designed to democratize access to advanced AI capabilities for businesses that might otherwise lack the resources or expertise.

To support the centre’s operations and its ambitious goals, TCS plans to hire up to 50 fresh graduates from local universities, filling crucial roles in data science and cybersecurity. The company currently employs 6,600 professionals in Singapore and has maintained a presence in the city-state since establishing operations in 1985. Further demonstrating its long-term commitment, TCS also plans to expand the innovation facility in the first half of 2026.

Punit Agarwal, TCS Singapore Country Head, highlighted the centre’s strategic importance. He noted that Singaporean SMEs often face challenges in accessing top-tier consulting talent for technology, a gap the new centre is specifically designed to bridge. “SMEs may not be as tech-savvy as larger corporations, but our consultants can guide them in understanding their data, learning how to use AI, and assessing their existing tech stack to identify what needs to be modernised,” Agarwal explained.

The innovation centre will also function as a platform for fintech firms and other startups to showcase their products and integrate into TCS’s Co-Innovation Network, a global ecosystem connecting emerging tech companies with TCS’s extensive enterprise customer base worldwide. This collaborative environment will leverage cutting-edge technologies from partners such as Google and Nvidia to deliver impactful outcomes for businesses in Singapore.

At the launch ceremony, Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Alvin Tan, acknowledged the centre’s alignment with national initiatives. He noted its similar role to Singapore’s $150 million Enterprise Compute Initiative (ECI), which helps local companies access cloud resources, AI tools, and expert consultancy services, reinforcing the collective effort to advance Singapore’s digital capabilities.
