Wishing Mr. Brent Hill new horizons, meaningful opportunities, and great success in their future endeavors!
Tourism Fiji has officially announced that Brent Hill will step down as its Chief Executive Officer by the end of August 2025, bringing to a close a remarkable four-year chapter defined by resilience, renewal, and record-breaking achievements. Hill, who hails from Adelaide, Australia, will be returning home with his family.
Appointed during one of the most testing moments in the island nation’s history, Hill stepped in at the peak of the global pandemic and led Fiji’s most vital economic sector—tourism, which accounts for nearly 40 percent of its GDP—into a strong and celebrated revival. Under his stewardship, Fiji not only recovered but also thrived, welcoming more than one million international visitors in 2024 for the very first time.
Of these, over 980,000 arrived by air and more than 80,000 came by cruise, breaking the previous tourism record and setting a new benchmark for the Pacific paradise.
Chairman of Tourism Fiji, Andre Viljoen, who himself recently stepped down as the CEO of Fiji Airways, honoured Hill’s service saying, “He has been an outstanding CEO and an inspirational leader for Tourism Fiji.”
Viljoen praised Hill’s strategic brilliance and creative passion, highlighting his role in leading two transformative corporate plans and launching the globally loved “Where Happiness Comes Naturally” campaign. He also applauded Hill’s efforts in hosting major events such as FTE, AHICE Fiji, the NRL matches, and upcoming milestones like the GSTC Global Summit and Fiji Pro by the World Surf League.
Hill’s tenure also brought a strong push towards sustainable tourism. He championed renewable energy efforts, helped transition the fleet to electric vehicles, led the opening of a green-certified Tourism Fiji office in Nadi, and launched eco-driven initiatives such as Bin it or Bag It and Loloma Hour.
“He has played a pivotal role in rebuilding and growing Fiji’s tourism sector, always advocating for innovation, sustainability and inclusive development,” said Viljoen. The search for his successor is already underway.
As Australians continue to visit the islands in record numbers, all eyes will now be on what comes next for Fiji’s thriving travel industry.
