Flipkart Minutes Races Ahead: 200 Dark Stores Light the Path to a Swifter Future

In a world moving faster by the second, Flipkart’s quick commerce wing, Flipkart Minutes, is galloping ahead with quiet determination. Launched as a humble pilot in Bengaluru back in August 2024, it has now grown to operate over 200 dark stores across 14 cities, reshaping how India shops for daily needs.

Speaking at a recent startup event, Vice President Kanchan Mishra shared insights into this lightning-fast journey. While Flipkart itself is a household name, Flipkart Minutes is still in its early chapters, Mishra noted, but the growth so far has been “phenomenal.”

The heart of this new retail revolution beats for speed and simplicity. From fresh groceries and personal care items to electronics and even smartphones, Flipkart Minutes delivers within 10 to 15 minutes, a promise that has struck a chord with urban consumers.

But it’s not just the youth driving this trend. Mishra highlighted a shift in the demographic, saying that “more homemakers are discovering the convenience of quick commerce,” pushing brands to rethink how and where they connect with customers. It’s no longer about just variety or affordability, it’s about instant access.

This isn’t the finish line, though. Flipkart Minutes is sprinting towards a massive expansion, aiming to open 500 to 550 dark stores in time for its marquee Big Billion Days sale later in 2025. That festive event, typically held in September or October, could become a showcase of what hyper-speed delivery truly means.

In terms of size, Flipkart Minutes is still catching up with veterans in the game. Zepto currently runs over 900 dark stores, while Swiggy Instamart and Blinkit are clocking in at 705 and 1,007 stores, respectively, by the close of Q3 FY25.

Yet, what Flipkart Minutes may lack in volume, it makes up for with strategy. Its brand-collaboration model, combined with Flipkart’s extensive existing user base, gives it a unique edge. Mishra believes this synergy will “accelerate growth” and help bring the magic of 10-minute deliveries to more corners of India.

As Flipkart Minutes quietly plants its flags across city after city, one thing becomes clear, the future of shopping is not just fast. It’s almost instant.
