In a move aimed at improving cross-platform connectivity, Oppo announced at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona that its upcoming smartphones will support file transfers with Apple devices via Android’s Quick Share. The update is expected to make Oppo devices compatible with AirDrop, removing the need for third-party apps.
The Oppo Find X9 series will be the first from the company to introduce AirDrop interoperability through Quick Share. Users will be able to send and receive files directly between Oppo smartphones and devices running iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
Oppo said the feature was developed in collaboration with MediaTek and Google. The rollout will begin through a software update for the Find X9 series starting in March.
The announcement follows broader efforts within the Android ecosystem to expand Quick Share capabilities. In November 2025, Google confirmed AirDrop support in Quick Share for the Pixel 10 lineup, with plans to extend compatibility to more devices. Currently, the feature works on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Reports suggest it is also being developed for the Pixel 9 series.
How it works
According to Google, the interoperability uses a direct peer-to-peer connection rather than a workaround. Data is not routed through a server, and shared content is never logged. Quick Share operates with the ‘Everyone for 10 minutes’ mode in AirDrop.
Google said the cross-platform sharing system includes built-in privacy and security safeguards. It worked with third-party penetration testing firm NetSPI for independent testing. The assessment concluded that Quick Share and AirDrop interoperability is secure, “notably stronger” than other industry implementations and does not leak any information.
