A fresh round of acquisitions signals Canva’s push to deepen its creative capabilities, as the platform looks to offer more advanced tools while keeping its product simple for everyday users.
Canva has acquired 2 companies—Cavalry and MangoAI. The move is aimed at expanding Canva’s creative suite and delivering more professional-grade features for animation and video advertising.
Cavalry, a UK-based 2D animation platform, is widely used by major brands such as Amazon, Meta, Google, and Netflix for high-quality motion graphics. MangoAI, based in the US, brings artificial intelligence technology focused on improving the performance and effectiveness of video advertisements.
With these acquisitions, Canva is clearly stepping up competition with Adobe. The company said the additions will help it build an easy-to-use “Creative OS” that combines powerful tools with accessibility. Canva is also strengthening its AI leadership by bringing in senior talent from Netflix to guide its artificial intelligence efforts.
The goal, according to Canva, is to serve a wide range of creators—from beginners to professionals—by offering advanced animation and ad creation tools without adding complexity.
Canva already has a massive global presence, with around 265 million users. The latest upgrades are expected to further position the platform as a central hub for online content creation. By integrating animation and AI-driven video advertising into its ecosystem, Canva is aiming to become the preferred choice for users looking to create standout visual content without relying on complex software.
As digital content demand continues to rise, Canva’s latest moves underline its ambition to grow beyond basic design and into a full-scale creative platform.
