SeatGeek integrates ticket sales directly into Spotify app

Music streaming is now becoming a direct gateway to live events. SeatGeek has announced a new integration with Spotify that allows users to buy concert tickets seamlessly while browsing the platform. When users visit an artist’s page or check upcoming tour dates, they will now see ticket links powered by SeatGeek for concerts at participating venues, making the purchase journey faster and more convenient.

The rollout is currently limited to venues where SeatGeek operates as the primary ticketing partner. It includes 15 major U.S. venue partners such as State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Nissan Stadium in Nashville and AT&T Stadium in Arlington. While SeatGeek is widely known in the secondary ticketing market, this integration applies only to venues where it serves as the main ticketing platform. The move gives SeatGeek direct access to millions of Spotify users at the moment they are discovering music and planning live experiences.

Despite its growth, SeatGeek continues to compete with Ticketmaster and AXS, which control a larger share of the ticketing market through long-term venue agreements. Ticketmaster alone services 53 of the top 68 U.S. arenas. Barclays Centre, which shifted from Ticketmaster to SeatGeek in 2021, reversed the deal in less than 1 year of a 7-year agreement and returned to Ticketmaster. The new Spotify partnership follows the streaming platform’s announcement that it has helped artists generate over $1 billion in ticket sales through more than 45 ticketing partners, including Ticketmaster, AXS, Eventbrite, DICE and Bandsintown. Spotify also tested direct ticket sales in 2022.

SeatGeek has previously partnered with Snapchat in 2018 to enable in-app ticket purchases. Meanwhile, Spotify’s latest earnings update reported over 750 million monthly users and 290 million paid subscribers. The company expects these figures to grow to 759 million users and 293 million paid subscribers in the current quarter, reinforcing its push toward profitability and deeper fan engagement.
