India drives rapid growth in LinkedIn profile verification as adoption surges in 2025

Trust and authenticity are becoming central to how professionals engage online, and LinkedIn’s profile verification feature is seeing strong momentum worldwide in 2025, with India emerging as the fastest-growing market.

LinkedIn members are adding close to 30 million verifications to their profiles every year, with total adoption rising more than 38% year over year in 2025. The company recently confirmed that over 100 million users have added at least 1 verification, according to Oscar Rodriguez, LinkedIn’s Vice President of Trust Products.

LinkedIn first introduced profile verification in 2022 to help users identify authentic profiles. The rollout began with workplace and identity confirmation, often through company email addresses, and later expanded to government-issued ID checks. Verification has since been extended to company pages and job listings as well.

Most members who choose verification do so by confirming their workplace rather than personal identity. Around 60% of verified users have validated a workplace affiliation using company credentials, while about 27% have verified their identity using a government-issued ID, Rodriguez said.

From a regional perspective, the U.S. holds the largest share of verified members, accounting for nearly 40% of the more than 100 million users with at least 1 verification. India follows closely, alongside the U.K., Canada, Brazil, and France.

While the U.S. leads in total verified users, India has recorded the fastest growth rate, with verification adoption rising by nearly 80% over the past 12 months. India already has over 160 million LinkedIn users, making it one of the platform’s largest and most dynamic markets.

As adoption increases, LinkedIn is also extending verification beyond its platform. Earlier this year, it launched the “Verified on LinkedIn” program, allowing partner platforms to display LinkedIn verification badges. Zoom recently joined the program, alongside partners such as Adobe and G2. A self-serve API has also been introduced to help organizations integrate verification into their own services.

According to LinkedIn, verified members see up to 60% more profile views and around 50% higher engagement on posts. Verified company pages also record higher views and follower growth.

“Verifications provide a powerful signal of authenticity on LinkedIn, helping to support authenticity and trust,” said Rodriguez.
