83% of organisations in India have appointed a dedicated AI executive : AWS Study

AWS and Access Partnership commissioned a research that found that while 98% of Indian organizations are adopting generative AI tools and the majority are creating generative AI training programs, little is known about the skilling requirements of their workforce.

According to a research that polled 415 top IT decision-makers from various sectors in India, 83% of Indian organizations have designated a Chief AI Officer (CAIO) or other dedicated AI executive to concentrate on adoption and implementation. According to the report, 15% more intend to do so by 2026.

IT decision makers who were questioned, however, mentioned difficulties such a lack of knowledge about the Gen AI skilling requirements of staff, doubts about successful deployment, and financial constraints.

“Given these limitations, training alone is unlikely to bridge the skills gap,” noted AWS in a press note.

However, according to the report, generative AI expertise is anticipated to be in high demand across practically all Indian organizations.

In an effort to provide organizations with free seminars and training, AWS announced that it has invested $100 million to establish a Generative AI Innovation Center.

By 2030, AWS has earlier stated that it will invest $12.7 billion in cloud infrastructure in India. AWS made $3.71 billion in investments in India between 2016 and 2022.

“We see a growing recognition of AI as a transformative technology that requires strategic leadership at the highest levels and a structured approach to change management,” said Satinder Pal Singh, Head of Solution Architecture, AWS India and South Asia, as he highlighted AWS’ “long-standing commitment to India.”
